P8P67 PRO issues?

OCZ SSD - 120GB as main boot

When I turn on the PC the first time, it dual boots, then black screen, no drive activity.

I have to hard shutdown, then it boots up one time, no problemo.

The dual boot issue is fixed in the latest BIOS release.

You can control the fans to some degree in the ASUS AI Suite software (Fan Xpert)
 
I have all the updates to AI Suite installed. Don't know if it makes a difference. I've been experimenting and it works kind of weird. I have two Noctua fans on my Noctua U12P, one one Cpu header and another on a chassis fan. One other fan at the rear, Scythe. The CPU fan runs full speed all the time, running Prime 95 the two chassis fans go from 1000 RPM's to full speed, 1350 RPM's, til I shut Prime down. These are all 3 pin fans. I guess the CPU fan needs to be a 4 pin to work with Fan Xpert. I have them set on standard.

Yeah, all of my fans are 3 PIN connected to the mobo, so I suspect that is why I cannot control them.

but I am more curious why the 600T controller is 3 PIN female...just like my connectors are for the fan, so they wont connect. Do I need some sort of 3 ping female to male then hook it up?

Well it was supposed to be the 1204 BIOS that fixes double POST, so not sure what's going on there.

Yeah on mine it only shows those two fans also.. :\
 
got my controller working on the 600T, works great.

Double post with 1204 for me still, otherwise works great. I am still a little confused how to use the OC stuff, it doesn't seem to work really well? Shrug.
 
If you don't use the Marvel Sata ports or the JMB e-Sata ports try disabling them in bios. That usually fixes that. Mainly the Marvel ports. I have everything I don't use disabled. Tried to screw my install up today and had the dual boot for awhile after resetting bios and I am pretty sure that is what fixed it.

Had to go back to HardForums to see why I did what I did, but I have a perfectly stable, no problems install, as long as I leave $#!+ alone. First thing reset CMOS.

Not sure if all of these are necessary, but I'm not using any of them right now. I have seen posts declaring that disabling the Marvell controller fixes issues.
Don't use Intel RST 10.1.1008. Use the the ones on the disk or the Microsoft ones. I use the one on the disk, don't know if it's the same as MS loaded drivers or not.
All other bios settings are stock. I just made sure the things I wanted were enabled. EIST, EPU, etc.

Have you tried resetting CMOS? It's a pain having to reset everything in the bios, but it seems necessary along with setting the memory manually or using XMP if your memory supports it. If you have done these things then I am out of suggestions. I guess hope the 13xx bios takes care of it. The only other thing is maybe disable the JMB temporarally and see if that fixes it. It was on ASUS's list.

I did reset CMOS, and set ym memory to 1600, as that is what my memory is capable of.

What is XMP?

I am not OCing or anything either, that hasn't really worked out well, so i'll wait until they fix up the bios a little more to try my luck at overclocking.

About fancontrol:
- cpu fanheader: can only control 4-pin pwm fans.
- 4-pin casefanheader: can control 3-pin and 4-pin pwm fans, min speed 40%
- 3-pin casefanheader: can control 3-pin fans, min speed 40%
- 4-pin and 3-pin casefanheader are on the same circuit, so fans run at the same speed.
- pwr fanheader: can not control fans (some psu's allow you to readout the fan rpm, this header is used for that. I have never seen a psu like that but I guess they exist, somewhere)

At least, that's what I found out from searching the web. You could try the latest Speedfan beta to see if it offers fancontrol, the current Speedfan version doesn't support the Asus i/o chip.
 
Here's a link. http://www.intel.com/consumer/game/extreme-memory.htm Mainly I did it to get my memory to run at 1600. Your memory has to support it, though. As for overclocking, I just set the EPU to high performance, and it ramps up to 4300 with about 1.26 volts and runs 1600 at about 1v at regular speeds. Good enough for now. I did go through the same boot weirdness that you are having when I first set up my machine. Something I did fixed it though.

I got the double-boot issue with 1204 bios:

It seems to rear it's head only when you OC, I put the 1204 in and it boots just fine after a jumper clear, but when I auto-oc ... I get problems.

My solution: OC and deal with it

Right now I am just going to hibernate the thing and avoid cold-boots altogether. I'm sure a fix is in the works, and other than the double boot it runs perfect.

ymmv but such is the life of early adoptors

I went conroe when they first came out ... that stuff was solid, ZERO issues. So this isn't really common of new releases IMO.

It's liveable though, because this is the only issue ... but I may reset CMOS once more to start off from scratch once again.
 
Asus boards in the past had the double boot thingy as well. It never really concerned me, I always thought it was a little testrun to make sure everything was ok.

I can't really remember but it didn't always do the double boot. I think when ocing with new settings and after removing the power cord.

If it never stops trying to boot there's obviously another problem. Check the Asus threads on the board here as well. Something with the tfc jumper or me jumper or whatever (I forgot precise name) but might be the cause.
 
Have you tried waiting after the first double boot. I just remembered that someone posted that if he waited a minute or so it would eventually get to the login screen. Don't think it worked for everybody.
