p8h67-m pro discrete GPU problem, RMA?

Anyone else have problems booting discrete graphics on this board?

Boots to onchip video (iGPU) just fine, can use windows no problem. Tried two different discrete GPU's - blank screen on boot, though mobo light and HD light indicates that it is booting just fine but not displaying any video. If I boot into windows using iGPU I can see the card using the device manager.
Any other suggestions before I RMA?

cable problem? dvi, vga or displayport?

and what GPU... at least give us enough info sigh

It's not the monitor or the DVI cable as they both work while using onchip graphics.

I've tried both an asus GTX460 card, and an xfx ati 5770, same issue with both. Both of these graphics cards boot fine in my other machine.
