P67 ASRock boot issue.

Finally got around to overclocking my 2500k the other day. Now, from a cold boot, I hear my fans ramp up to high for a second or two then down to low. Then it sounds like everything turns off and then the fans go to high and then low and then I get the display on the LCD, etc. Then it boots fine.

Is that a double boot? Is there anything I can do to prevent it?

My ASRock cycles the fans to high for a few seconds while its booting. I think the one I hear the most is my Radeon 5670 fan which is quite loud on high.... I haven't noticed any problems and I don't think its a "double boot"

It sounds like it is double booting, as if some setting on auto causes instability (whether too much over or under voltage). The OC is holding fine after the double start? Post all your OC settings so we can check if there are any dubious ones.

Thanks Athadeus. I can try and post the settings within the next few days. BTW how are people posting screen shots of UEFI? Is there something built into it to do so?
Yep, OC is stable.

Hogan- My 6950 also ramps to high for a second or two but it's done that from the start and it's normal. What's happening here is that is basically does that twice.

I think there is a setting in the advanced BIOS settings that you have to disable. Dual boot happens as well to an Asus P8P67 Pro motherboard that belongs to my friend. I looked through and disabled it and it no longer dual boots. Can't really remember what did I disabled as I made the changes months ago.

I just learned the hard way last night that my ASR Ext4 will double boot if I turn OFF "Spread Spectrum" in the voltage settings in BIOS. I would like to do this so my system would run at 100.0 BCLK and not 99.8, but not if it means every time I turn on the PC I have to listen to it fire up, shut down, pause, then fire up again. Doesn't inspire confidence when that happens, so I leave the Spread Spectrum turned to AUTO.
