P5W-DH .45nm Intel CPU Speedstep not functioning

Hi. This is my first post. My rig has a P5W-DH with a E8400. I can't get the speedstep function to work along with this combination. I heve already tried everything I can. My Bios is the lastest from Asus. The proc. never idles below 3Ghz. Before the E8400 i had a E6420 installed and the speedtstep worked flawlessly.
Thanx in advance.

That looks like an Asus model number, but I can't find this board anywhere on their web site.

Does it have a BIOS update that's supposed to support 45nm processors? Or did you turn off C1E and Speedstep for overclocking purposes, and leave them off?

Thats an Asus board alright. Look for P5W DH. It does have aBios supporting even the QX9650. I have the 2801, which is the latest. I have tried turning on both C1E and EIST together, it seems that C1E is ok, but EIST wont work, it wont idle with lower clock and voltage!

That CPU is not technically supposed to work with that motherboad and chipset, despite asus's claims. I know because I have the deluxe model the P5W DH deluxe. I have another PC with the correct motherboard for those kinds of CPU's. Asus hacked support for 45nm cpu's into the bios well after it's release, and they even officially didn't have the E8x00 cpu's on the supported cpulist for the board. Therefore I wouldn't expect anything to work properly, since technically they hacked support in after the fact. I would imagine the latest revisions of the boards have support but earlier PCB versions probably have issues, such as you are having.

I am having P5W DH Deluxe, it works with all 1066 FSB processor with out any problem, but it gives problem with 1333 processors, Presently it working excellent with q6600

yea my man you would be best suited just buying yourself a cheap p45 motherboard and calling it a day, rather than trying to get it to work on that older one.

I have that motherboard. Are you overclocking? The newer bios's don't allow you to have speedstep or C1E enabled when you are overclocking on that board, so that could be the problem.
