hi to all on th anandtech forums :)

I've recently ordered a 64mb pc-133 cas3 stick of ram for a friend of mine. I went over there to install it this afternoon after school and it only picked up 16MB of ram. This is a *really* old board, as it only had 1 dimm slot and 4 edo, my question is, what's wrong with it?

I've thought about it and come up with the following explainations:
1/ Buggered ram (not likely IMHO, it most likely would have not started at all)
2/ Motherboard not supporting any more than 16MB dimms
3/ damn stupid memory of mine :)

i've yet to try the ram in my machine to see if the ram itself's screwed, but i'll try that tonight.

if someone can point me in the direction of a P5VA (i havent heard of it before) BIOS update, if that will fix my problem, then many thanks :) I haven't got a brand name, stupid damn package computers...

Anyways, thanks all :)
