P5Q-E - Is the motherboard temperature too high?

Hi,

I recently built a new system with an Asus P5Q-E, and all temperatures seem to be stable, except for the motherboard temperature.

When running PC Probe 2, I get an alarm whenever I'm running a game. At that point the motherboard temperature hits around 48C. The standard idle temp is around 44C. The default threshold in PC Probe 2 is 45C.

My question is, should I adjust the alert settings on PC Probe, or is there really a temperature issue? It is reporting the CPU at 27C at idle, and around 35C under load.

Thanks for any insight into this issue.

I haven't had a board temp much lower than 48c. I would adjust the temp alarm setting on the asus probe higher.

Those temps seem high to me, have you got decent case cooling? How warm the room is will play a big role too.

Temperature and fan speed readings on the P5Q-E are unreliable. I have tried all the bios updates, changed coolers, fans, etc. and I still get wacky readings. I think it is just the nature of the beast. I have also tried all the monitoring programs and they all read the same except when the temps get really out of control like -111 cpu temp or 255+ motherboard temp.
