I am just about to order a P5K Deluxe with 4gb 4-4-4-12 800 ram, either Corsair or Patriot (cause thats what in stock right now for memory) and a quad Q6600 cpu.

Any thoughts on this combo? Any better choices? I won't be doing a heck of a lot of overclocking but the option to do so is always nice. I really just want a fast and stable system with the least amount of headaches.

Why do you think that the P5K is better? At least one user was able to crack the 4.0GHz barrier with Q6600 and $70 Abit IP35-E at MWAVE.

Yes the p5k-e is the better way to go!

Mwave had some Crucial 4-4-4-12 800 for $94 but they are sold out. Next choice is Corsair with same specs. Think it is as good?

Wow dude, you really like that IP35-E.

Suffice it to say, ASUS boards for the P35 generation scare the crap out of me, and admittedly the IP35-E is one of the more reliable options (but only if you're looking for a no-frills cheap board that seems to do a decent job). I've heard good things about the pk5-e, but only in the sense that it's the one board that has the least amount of problems.

I highly recommend the P5K Deluxe. I originally bought an Abit IP35-e but it turned out to be defective. I now am running my Q6600 at 3.6 GHz stable. Very easily to boot.

I also like the P5K deluxe. I overspent on it because I bought it from a store (my IP35 Pro was actually defective) so I didn't want to wait :p

My P5K-E is on the way. Should have it tomorrow or Friday. Also coming from Newegg. They were more expensive but it shipped same day. I originally ordered elsewhere because of cost and although it showed in stock upon order, wasn't in stock the next day and my order was waiting. I cancelled and went with Newegg.

I have a P5K-E showing up from newegg today also... I'm popping in a E6550 and using the rest of the parts from my dell8400... except for the power supply... that's new too.... hopefully UPS doesn't decide to throw this up on my back patio in my apartment too like they did my $500 lens for my camera.... i live on the 4th floor...oooo.. that made me so mad. :|

UPS is funny (not in a ha ha type of way). I paid for 2 day shipping because I wanted the parts before the weekend. My order shipped from NJ and if I had paid for ground, it would have been delivered today but because I paid for 2 day, they will hold it until tomorrow.

I guess I should have called and asked where it was coming from first and saved myself some dollars.

Owls,

That's so funny that you said that! Because that's exactly what happened to me except I bought the IP35-E. I couldn't wait either and the store I went to didn't have the p5k-e...so what did I do? Bought the deluxe!
