P5B sound issues

I just recently setup a P5b motherboard and since I got a duel slot video card and am using a tv tuner I need to use the onboard sound. The onboard sound on this thing is REALLY bad, I have tried every driver I can find, called up microsoft to get their "hotfix", and nothing seems to work.

I made this post in hopes that we can combine our knowledge on this and hopefully get it resolved. I really doubt the hardware is messed up and my guess is there is so special setting or driver that gets the onboard sound on these P5Bs to work correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would recommed to check out the digital output (optical or coaxial) unless you don't have a A/V receiver supporting digital input. They sound great with my receiver. There have been numerous reports on bad sound quality of ADI chipset on analog output.

I too am having the same problem and need to use the onboard sound since I only have one effective pci card. Is there a pci-e 1x adapter to pci? Is there any driver later then the 4570s? On the microsoft website they mention 5103s as seen here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/901105. Actually these are the ones for windows xp http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888111 5012, though the date is hella old. Anyone gotten their rear speakers working outside of games?
