P5B deluxe temp issues

Hello Guys, been a while but I am now changing platforms and am in need of your opinions. As some of you are aware of the P5B deluxe has temperature issues as far as read out goes. As I type my cpu temps are 52c. while the system is 39c. I really want to get this thing kicking but I dont want to smoke it on the 1st night I have it. I have reseated the scythe ninja for a second time now, reapplied everything and so forth. still I am in the fifties. with no load. I did a quickand dirty raise to 400 fsb to see if i could get it to post and it was up with no issues, 3.2, like that with plenty to go, I am sure. The problem is the tempoerature went all the way up to 97c with in minutes. That just cant be right. can it?????????
I appreciate any help I can get. I have read all over the place about suspicions of temp reading issues but are there any facts to it. I have put a temp gun on it right down the middle of the ninja and it read or reads...38.5 This is with a laser thermometer. What do you guys think?

The P5B-D reports the wrong tempratures. Mine reads 50c idle and 72 under load even after I switched out the Intel stock cooler with a Thermalright XP90, and I can still overclock to 3Ghz and be Prime95 stable for 18 hours.

So is it safe to assume that your cpu is close to the systems temps?? or is that too broad of a statement??
I sure do have a lot to leard on this intel base. I ve been running amd the entire time, gotta get used to this bios set up, any good links for a quick and dirty guide with this bios?
