P5B-Deluxe and Q8400 okay combination?

Okay the Q8400 at $175 is looking to be an upgrade I can't resist. I don't need the larger cache of the Q9400 as my main need for the quad is video editing and the larger cache doesn't seem to do much from the reviews I've read.

My question is will the Q8400 work okay with my old P5B-Deluxe? I'm hoping to basically keep my current BIOS settings for an overclock to 3.2, by increasing FSB to 400, like I've been doing with my current rig for the past two plus years.

Thanks for any advice on this. My rig is really, really stable right now and don't want to end up with a tweaking mess. If this is going to be problematic I'll just wait until I can afford a cheap i5 rig.

You're not going to keep your settings as you have to get the beta bios to run the q8400. You will however, I bet, be able to run at 400fsb.

Update your bios before you take things apart.

Thanks for the advice.

Yeah I know I won't be able to keep my current settings. What I was trying to say is that I know my system can be stable at 400FSB.

quads overclock differently, so you may not be able to get the same FSB (if that was your max), or it may take more effort to get to the same FSB. There is an "Official" p5b-deluxe thread over in the motherboard forum, that may be helpful.

****definitely update your BIOS*** unless you were already running a BIOS which supports that CPU
