Hi All, I've got an old P5B with the latest bios & Windows XP SP3. Does any of this support a 1TB drive?

TIA,
Dave.

Thanks!

I'm out of date severely, so you are saying yes, I can stick a 1TB SATA in it & have nil problem?

Yes, your bios supported large drives from version 0806 I believe. Anything later and you'll be fine

I got a 1TB Caviar & it has been working fine for more than 2 weeks, thanks people!

SSD, does XP support it?

Is there any good reason for using any of the newer version of Windows?

TIA.

Yes XP will support SSD, the only thing you will not get support for SSD is the TRIM.
If I am not wrong, the only OS you get TRIM support is Windows 7.
I think if you have 2 Gb of ram, you will be fine to stick with Windows 7.
I think all your hardware you will not have any problem upgrading to a newer Windows, I think you should try and test yourself.
IMO, it is better than XP.
