I am trouble shooting a Editor at work and it has a Asus P4t533 Motherboarrd. I'm running two Hitachi 180gb 7200RPM 8mb drives, I was having problems capturing video to them so I checked the IDE channel settings and everything is stuck in Pio mode and i can't change it. in the BIOS the options are greyed out. I've tried a different cables, but same problem anyone got any ideas???

well its both channels but i'll try that when I'm back at work tommrow. I tried updating the bios and drivers and that didn't fix it. Anyone else got any ideas if deleting the channels doesn't work?

You can take a peak in bios, and see if the DMA mode is set to Auto for the drives, if so, you can try forcing DMA instead of Auto.

thier is no auto DMA mode in the bios. the only way I can mess with the dma settings is to turn HD dection on to Manuel but it has options for both Pio and DMA and only DMA is able to be disabled pio can't be.
