The P4T533-R comes with ata133 raid and USB 2.0. It came with one 256MB Rimm4200 and a CRIMM. Since I will be using an Audigy OEM I disabled the c-media 6ch sound, although it does look interesting and has a hanger with spdif in/out. The instruction manual is quite nice for those that RTFM as well. I have read a few horror stories with this board and bios 1002, so I immediately flashed to the 1003. I just assembled everything, and it's installing windows xp updates right now so I will report back with some o/c stats.

I bought a new 2.26 that supposedly runs 2.9 @ 1.7 so we shall see. I also have a pair of the famed 120GXP 80GB Deathstars in raid0. This system should be my best creation to date.

Awesome John. That's got to be a killer setup.

I was thinking about getting a P4T533 w/ 2.26 setup, but the thread at HardOCP Forums about it and problems @ default speeds kind of told me not to and just wait for Dual Channel DDR. The guys over at the H are doing crazy stuff like soldering caps to their boards to fix the stability problems, and it seems to be working! It's kind of shocking. Post back results ASAP, especially Prime95 past 12 hrs... I'm very interested in the results especially coming from a vet. overclocker like you with this board.

(Post your RIMM serials and board rev, etc if you can)

By the way, here is the thread I mentioned above with people doing crazy stuff to the P4T533. A lot of the people in the thread have no idea what the hell they're doing, but there's more than a good share of guys who are experts at what they're doing and know their stuff, and still having problems.

I have been in and out this weekend so I apologize for the lack of updates.

Sandra memory bandwidth

The board is finicky, and requires a lot of TLC in order to perform. Some FSB's work well, others do not. So far I have mixed feeling with this board, but I am going to try bios 1004 and see what happens.

I have been overclocking my p4t533 and noticed a lot of FSB issues. Like I had running solid at 117 Mhz (I have 100 Mhz chip) I tried to go up to 118 it didn't work so I dropped back down to 117 and that wouldn't work now I had to drop all the way down to 110 and thats where it has been sitting. I havn't really had a lot of time to play around with it though. It is a fast board right out the box though.

I am running a 2.4 (multiplier of 24). Supposedly it is unlocked but my board only goes up to a max of 24 so no way of really using that feature unless I want to underclock it.

Unlocked P4?! That an engeneering sample?

Also can't you just bump the fsb up to 133? and get yourself up to 3.2Ghz, but then again you will have to bump your voltage and probbably get better cooling.

I work for Intel and occasionaly they give us unlocked processors. (I actually saw one for sale here not too long ago.) It has actually caused us a lot problems with buying boards for them. Many boards just do not like the fact that they are unloack for some reason. I bought 4 boards so far to get the procs running but only one board worked. The other boards defaulted to a multiplier of 14 and for some reason the boards would never give me an option to go above 18. So far the only board I got to work with this chip is the P4T533. I had the Gigabyte 8iexp and really loved that board but, I didn't want my 2.4 running at 1.8. Go figure. I actually have 2 procs and waiting for the a second board to arrive. I will be trying out a MSI max2-lr. It is supposedly another board that works with this chip. If it doesn't I will probably get another P4T533 just because I know it works.

I really havn't played with the board that much (I built that one for my wife) When I get the second board (probably monday) I will try it out and see what they can do. I was really hoping to get 2.8-3.0 out of these but hoping and getting are two different things.

What you probably should do is run at both 24x 100 and 1.8 x133 with the ram at 4x turbo and do benchmarks and just see how much performance delta there is between a 133mhz buss and a 100 mhz buss. I dont think you really want a higher multiplier than 24 for overclocking, as a 133mhz buss should give you substantial memory bandwidth advantage. My 2.4 is clock locked. I had it at 2880 last night but appearantly didnt have enough juice to the processor so it didnt last. Be carefull with the P4T 533.. it can flake out on you in a hurry and can be difficult to recover. I have one and so far its super stable up to a point then all hell breaks loose and recovery can be a challenge. Take it slow and use good cooling and small incremntal bumps in speed, and use a good stable PSU.
