P4PE and Prescott

Do they have HT?

which would be better the 2.8 Prescott and a 3.06 Northwood?

I have a 2.6 Northwood now. Should I just get a new mobo and an 800fsb chip or wait until faster chips come out, etc.

(I just talked myself into waiting) 🙂

yeah I figured as much. I'm not sure if I need to upgrade to an HT 3.06 or not. Also, I have 2 512's I am using, so I can't use an 800FSB chip.

I might just wait or go for an A64 next time.

Well, or if you have a pal who wants to upgrade mobo & CPU, then maybe you could sell it off and fund your upgrade 🙂 Why do you focus on the 3.06, is it that your RAM is DDR333 and you would need DDR400 to jive with a 3.2? Because Asus says it'll support the 3.2 Northwood...

Asus says it only supports 1 DIMM with the 800 MHz FSB chips. I do have DDR400, so, like you said, I could sell the P4PE and my 2.6 P4 and get a new CPU and mobo.

...I told myself I wouldn't upgrade until 5GHz's were around though. 🙂

Ohhh, gotcha. That's sound logic on your part. Well there's always the For Sale & Trade forum if you get an itchy "Add To Cart" finger 😀
