I'm trying to ge ta raid set-up going on a P4PE mobo and I am a little confused as how to do it. I bought a raid card not knowing the board had a controller already on it. Oops..

So I have a Raid ultra ATA connector...

It says the connector supports U ATA set to master mode. Together with a SATA HDD on the serial connector, the master HDD on this ultra ATA connector may be configured as RAID 0 or 1

So... Does this mean I only hook up one drive to the raid connector? I thought i would hook up both drives, one set to master and the other to slave....

Plus...It says "together with a SATA on the SATA connector"

Well both my drives are ultra ATA and I als odon't see a connector on the mobo for Serial ATA.

damn ,am I lost..

Help..

The P4PE has two SATA ports on the motherboard. Check your manual on page 1-7, and see items marked 11 on the board layout. They are the SATA connectors.

To activate them, you first have to do that in BIOS settings. It is covered on page 4-27 of the manual. The RAID controller is a Promise PDC20376, and it supports RAID 0 and 1.

After the BIOS activates the ports, you will need to install the RAID (FastTrak 376) drivers - they are on the CD that comes with the mobo. That will enable to FastTrak BIOS to load separately before Windows does. RAID software support is discussed on page 5-24 of the manual.
