Greetings,

I just did a fresh install with XP pro, not my first time or will it be the last time I format. Here is my problem: AC97 driver 3.95 and 3.94 will not install.

When I attempt to install either version these drivers cause a blue screen and will not install, here is what I have done;

Fresh install XP pro sp2
all patch's applied
bios 1021 0006 been using this version since it came out, never a issue.

order of install

xp
Intel inf
all ms patches
realtek 3.95
ati video driver
anti virus

even tried this:

disabled on board audio, installed driver, restarted computer, restart computer, enable on board audio.

Any help is appreciated,

Sounds like a hardware problem with the onboard sound. I would just disable it and get a cheap SBLive.

when you say you disabled/enabled onboard audio,

are you doing this through the bios options?
