1x 512MB PC3500 OCZ Cas 2-2-5-2
Alpha PAL 8942 with 50CFM 80MM and AS3.
Antec TruePower 430

Right now I am running at 164fsb 3:4 ratio, i cant get much higher.

When i first got the chip, i tried 180 at 1:1, and it would boot 1/3 times.
More recently, i upped my voltages to the max. 1.775 cpu and 2.8 ram, windows loads at 210, but freezes immediately, and at 220 it freezes shortly after the windows XP loading screen.

Any ideas what the problems might be? I am thinking i should RMA my motherboard, but i doubt that is the problem.

Please post all questions/comments/criticism/help

I am 99% sure your ram is only rated to run at 2-3-6-3, since I have the same thing. Like everyone has said, lower your memory timings to the most relaxed until you find the limits of your board and CPU. Also, you should be running the RAM at 1:1 if you want FSB around 200.

OCZ EL DDR PC-3500 / 433mhz / Enhanced Latency Series
OCZ Enhanced Latency PC-3500 memory using state of the art ULN technology is capable of achieving outrageous speeds of up to 433MHz at CL2*. Out copper heat spreaders maximize cooling and extend your rams life while increasing performance. This memory easily surpasses even the newly adopted PC-3200 standard. OCZ Enhanced Latency PC-3500 is the best performing DDR memory on the market. Period.

* Based on single module load at 2.5 volts +/- 5% DIMM Voltage. Some newer chipsets/motherboards may allow other timings (Some KT400 based boards allow up to CL2 484 1T timings at 434Mhz some 845e boards allow up to CL2 372 434Mhz.).Due to chipset and motherboard diferences on a non JEDEC standard product Make sure to check our motherboard qualification page for the exact information for your motherboard. OCZ EL DDR modules are rated to handle up to 2.8 volts with heatspreader installed.

CL2 372 434Mhz.).

does that mean 2-3-7-2 at 434?

You should be able to find out simply by running the memory at SPD timings. At SPD, mine runs 2-6-3-3 at DDR 434.

Could be, check out the specs listed over at Hexus: http://www.hexus.net/review.php?review=492&page=2

i just let SPD do everything, got some interesting results.

I put the chip at 166FSB, left SPD to do evertyhing.

SPD put the ratio at 3:4 (222Mhz for the RAM)
SPD put the Timings to 2-6-3-3

its running fairly stable, i had to up the voltages a tad, but no restarts. Now i gotto get memtest86 to work and test it. I really want to hit a higher FSB than 166, or get a chip with a higher multiplier.

Want a chip with a higher FSB then 166? Don't run the ratio 3:4 :D

want to send me some?:p:)

its not easy to come by, all my friends use DDR266.

i could post a help post saying i'd cover shipping both ways just to try some out.

Usually in situations like this, i go to bestbuy, buy the part, see if it works, if it does, i keep it till my new one comes in, then return bestbuy's for full refund.
but bestbuy doesnt carry ddr 434 ram.

alright.

at 166FSB 3:4 222MHZ
Memtest results were horrid.
Test3 i had 945 errors, test 2 like 416, test 1 0errors

At 166 1:1 166Mhz i had 0 errors through test 5, then i esc'd

listen carefully....

test it @ 434ddr with rated cas settings.

we want to know if it can run rated specs!
so you can return it if it cant

(thats 163fsb 3:4)

i dont think i can return it, unless they offer cash refund. i'll just RMA and sell it or something.

I read atleast 5 reviews, and they all said it was > xms 3500C2

i did 163 3:4 218

2-6-3-3 (spd)

errors out the anus

Preach on Thugs, preach on! :D

Ahh, and to think, I was considering possibly picking up a stick to give it a chance.

175+ and it errors "out the anus"

thats at max voltage on p4pe....i think like 2.8-2.9 or something

well, the stick still works good. and it runs at 220+ FSB, just not at the timings i want, and not without error. but it still runs and windows is unnaffected by it, i guess OCZ was smart, because they didnt say error free.

Fumbduck, It doesn't sound like memory problems to me. If you have the same problems running 1:1 as you did at 3:4, maybe the problem lies somewhere else. I have the same memory, and it is running its advertised timings just fine. Have you tried flashing your motherboard bios to the latest?

Thugsrook, I know OCZ has had bad memory in the past (my buddy bought some) I really don't think the problem is with the memory in this case. Every review I have read about it says this stuff is the real deal.
