P4G8X on Pricewatch!

Well, I thought that I posted this yesterday but I could not find it in the forums so I will just try it again. I did not know if anyone else has posted this but the P4G8X and the deluxe models are listed on eBay with an eta of 11/30 at MyInfinity.com. I don't know anything about this reseller but I thought that this might stop some of the "When are they going to be available" threads.

P4PE was also $190 when it was first introduced. That was the full version. It dropped by like $40 after the first two weeks!

especially @ newegg ~ but its gonna be tough holding out for a price drop 😉

Thugs,

Not too tough with these new Abit boards. I am still hoping Abit will release a GB board! I know you are too!

btw, what's the difference between the P4G8X and P4G8X-D (deluxe) models? I went to myinfinity.com and asus' website but didn't see anything about the differences...

The -D w/c denotes "Deluxe" have all the bells and whistles ie. RAID, SATA, IEEE1394 aka Firewire, etc.

I cant hardly wait to get my hands on these boards. My hands are itching to buy one asap.

man this is so dumb i have a p4 2.53 ghz sitting right in front of me and i gotta wait. I"m so tempted to buy a P4PE. I just gotta hold tight though..... I wish i had a 2400+ athlon instead of this, then I'd just run and get a nforce 2 and be done.

The "Deluxe" don't have onboard raid. The plain version probably don't have firewire, SATA, and gigabit lan...

Looks like 'PowerStart Computer' has joined the Pricewatch list of Asus P4G8X vendors!!

Same prices as Myinfinity though.🙁

Does two sticks of 256 = 512 on the GR motherboard or do you have to have Two sticks of 512 to = 512. How do the GB motherboards look at the ram that is in it.

I'm now fairly certain I won't get my grubby hands on an Asus P4G8X until January 2003. I've e-mailed quite a few suppliers and no-one has an ETA for this board and no info on it either. The major trade-only supplier I use (Ingram Micro UK) doesn't have it in their listings and they tend to have things listed weeks before actually selling them. There is no sign of this board at all in the UK and that makes me think it's not going to be here anytime soon.

Even in the US it's only being listed by Myinfinity and they are clearly playing the 'get a ton of pre-orders' game. What Myinfinity are doing is putting the P4G8X in their listings to get plenty of pre-orders and then putting their ETA date back a few days at a time so no-one gets upset and keep waiting instead. The fact that no-one else is listing the board looks like a clear sign that it's not due out anytime soon.

More worrying is that fact that they're not on sale in the far-east yet! They always get the new stuff well ahead of the US and Europe and I haven't seen a thing about availability there. Asus say the board is shipping, but where?? I've e-mailed pretty much every listed Asus e-mail address in the world but haven't received a single response yet (surprise, surprise).

Looks like ditto for Gigabyte. A forum member at OCUK got an e-mail from Gigabyte UK saying that they were planning on mass-producing their GB board in January 2003. Since Gigabyte UK don't make the boards they're probably talking about Gigabyte in general. The 2 French vendors who are listing the GA-8INXP must be 'doing a Myinfinity'.

Do you guys share my pessimism or do you think I'm a freakin' nut? No Granite Bay and no beer make Coz go crazy.🙂

(hehe, I posted this same incoherent rant over at the overclockers.com forum).
