P4E temperature

I had a P4p800 mobo with my P4E 2.8 and found that the temperatures of the CPU varied from 50 at standard to 65 O/C.

The mobo needed to be changed and I put in a Gigabyte GA 81875 which seemed a good mobo with native HT.

The temps changed dramatically now showing 60 at idle and pushing 80 o/c.

Nothing else changed so I can only assume it is something to do with the temp monitor on the mobo.

has anyone else experienced this or has anyone any thoughts.

Changing cpu cooler to Aerocool deep impact from standard heatsink did nothing.

Your thinking is right on about different boards reading differently. BTW, It should clock throttle if that 80c is close to accurate. This is an occassion where SiSuck can actually prove useful, overclock and get the temp up there and then run the CPU benchmarks in Sandra to see if it underperforms indicating the clock throttle kicked in. If it benches OK then the board is just reading high. I pesume T.I.M. application and mounting have been properly done of course. BTW, it ain't dubbed Presshot for nothin' 😉
