you know if it decreases your oc capabilites at all with it on? im at work curious and bored.. just wondering if HT effects the overclocking at all.

yeah... its sad to see everyone else with 2.4c's getting higher oc'ed then me, but this is the highest i can seem to get stable. thats why im asking about the hyper threading. ive seen pretty much everyone get above 3.1, but i cant even get 3.2ghz / 250fsb. :( im not sure what my bottleneck is, or whats stopping my pc from going any higher.

I have the same mobo, Abit IS7-E as you and am using Bios 13. I also have GAT disabled, do you?

I have no idea if flashing it back to 13 would do any good or not. When I bought mine it had bios 9 on it, when I flashed it to 13, it did much better when overclocking.

I would suspect its a motherboard setting that holding you back.
HT enabled, made no difference to me. 2.4 @ 3.4 using stock heatsink on IC7
Took me quite a bit of searching through the Abit forums to find all the settings that would work.

Yeah, I'm 280FSB on the 2.4 now, HT enabled. It calculates as 3.36MHz, but comes up 3.8MHz. P4P800-D.

i have the p4 3.0c and the p4c800-e...i leave hyperthreading on and can overclock up to 220fsb...with hyperthreading off i can hit 240...but it may be that I just got unlucky with my board because i had the p4p800 before this and didn't have this problem.

I wouldn't set your v-dimm that high, it lowers your CPU life and generally doesn't do much for OCing. You probably just need to check all the mobo settings.

Why would anyone buy an 800fsb cpu with hyper-threading and disable it?

hrmm... i havent tried turning mine off, but the highest 100% stable i can seem to get to it 240 fsb, but with a high vcore, 1.7, but the actual is about 1.65. It kinda sucks being stuck using such a high vcore just to get a 40 fsb increase when these people with 2.4c's are running 270+fsb's way over 1000fsb. I can boot fine with a 249 fsb, and it plays games and works, but it fails in prime95 and sandra burn ni, once i go to 250, it crashes. wont even post. It does not like 250 AT ALL.

v-dimm?? affects CPU?! raising ur v-dimm does wonders for your memory as shown in Anandtech's latest article about the OCZ PC3700
< =D proud owner

edit: got my 2.6C to 262fsb, ur jus in bad luck :(

it is quite possible it is your geil ram

so i got fed up with all these errors on memtest86 with my geil gold dragon pc3700

i couldn't get it to do 2.5-3-3-7 @ 2.8 volts on my IC7 ...

box says it is good up to 3.1 volts... so i figured.. what the heck! might as well do a vmem mod to my board!

so i did the vmem mod to my board and now 2.8 volts is 2.97-2.99 volts! :)

i can now do 2.5-4-3-7 @ 234 mhz

2 x prime95 stable @ 12 x 292 mhz with 5:4 divider

:)

oh since i am using win2kpro, i disabled HT

i saw my 3dmark2k1 scores go from 13.6K to 15.3K after disabling HT

saw my pcmark2k2 cpu score go grom 6.4K to 8.6K after disabling HT

for some reason win2kpro only uses 50% of the cpu when HT is enabled (when HT is enabled win2kpro recognizes the cpu as 2 cpu's... weird huh?)
