Grrr. I need help on this one guys.

When I boot to windows (XP pro) the wizard finds 3 usb devices. It then tells me that they cannot install and gives me a 'data is not vaild' message on the wizard window (drivers won't install). I've upgraded to the Service Pack 1 which should fix some of these problems but it does the same thing. All my bios settings are stock right now (I do o/c but not at this moment, all is stock). I've had this board running for a couple of months now but since I had no USB devices I had them turned off in the bios. I've tried to get this thing working for 5+ hrs now with no luck, I'm out of ideas. I even went to the ASUS NET Q forums for the P4B533 but that didn't help me either. Any advice would be appriciated.:frown:

You have to start by ENABLING the USB ports in BIOS. Then when XP loads, hot plug a device and it should react.

I already had the usb enabled and I tried pluging in the device (joystick) but with the same results. I might have to reinstall windows, but I really (really, really) don't want to. I'll admit Windows XP looks pretty and has some cool stuff on it like the monitor but I've never had so much problems with an OS before. Do you think clearing the cmos would do anything? I might try that first, sigh.

try turning off all USB ports in the bios - boot up and make sure there are no more errors - then reinable one port and boot up . also if any of the ports are from cables you pluged into the MB make sure they are pluged correctly.
good luck

usb 2.0 driver
Do a search on your hard drive for Q312370 HOTFIX and uninstall it. My usb 2.0 wouldn't work well none of my usb ports did until I uninstalled it.
