P4B266 and S/PDIF -- Help?

Has anyone used their digital (S/PDIF) out on the Asus P4B266 MB? Here is my dilemma: I purchased some Boston Acoustics BA7500G digital surround speakers w/ subwoofer. These require a digital signal. The digital in for the speaker system, though, uses a miniplug (i.e. the same sort of jack you would see on walkman headphones), while the S/PDIF out on the daughterboard uses RCA. I have attempted to splice RCA and minijack cords together, matching plug-end to plug-end and plug-base to plug-base. I hear nothing.

My questions: Is there something special that need be done to activate the S/PDIF out for this MB? I know Radio Shack sells a mini-jack to RCA adaptor-- is this anything different from what I am doing with my splicing? Has anybody had similar experience with these speakers and an RCA-out soundcard?

Thanks,

Ron

Yep, that did it. You need to make sure the s/pdif is selected through the ASUS PCI Audio Applications software. These speakers were a great deal for $39 or so from CompGeeks!
