I've recently acquired the aforementioned motherboard and ordered a pair of 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance sticks. Today upon mounting them it was apparent right away that the system won't boot no matter what. I've tried 2x2GB no name sticks (borrowed from a friend) and they worked fine, however even after tweaking the bios the 2x4GB Vengeance combo just won't boot. The error codes are either E1 or d4.

I do know that the Q9550 is a 1333 fsb cpu, but I thought the upper fsb limit doesn't matter since I regularly overclock the cpu (though I might be wrong). So far I've been able to find only 1333mhz related info. Anybody got any ideas?

Try only one stick at a time, you might have a bad stick of ram.

If that don't work try resetting your Cmos.

Already tried all of the above but to no avail. The sticks are definitely not faulty because they work flawlessly on a 1155 motherboard. The only explanation would be that they're either not compatible with my cpu (although it says intel core supported on the box) or the motherboard.

I've already seen the memory list, but disregarded it due to it's age (6-7 years old). Anyways, I'll sell the Vengeance sticks and buy a pair of RipjawsX 1333 (which will hopefully work).
