P43 sucks! Only overclocks to 400+ FSB?

The Gigabyte P43 is $100 and does everything I need to run at stock with one graphics card. I can even OC an E8400 from 3.0 to 3.6 if I ever decide to.

The Asus P5Q Pro is $150 (or $130 with an Asus 4850) and just adds gimped x8 crossfire and more extreme overclocking, neither of which I needed.

The P43 saved me $50 towards the cost of a 4870.

Ah.....now I understand why you say "gimped x8 crossfire" in nearly every one of your recent threads.

The P45 is an excellent, cost effective option for Crossfire in all but the highest of resolutions (much better than P35). It's brand new tech and I'd wait a bit before the jury is out on that one. Nonetheless, the fps that the Crossfire P45 will crank out is more than adequate and shouldn't stop anyone from buying one these boards.

Why are you attacking Mobo chipsets? first it was Gigabyte because only 6 sata ports now P43, next year at this time no one will care, I should of order the P5Q pro combo with E8400 for $319 now it to late:| anyone think the Egg will run another discount on that combo??

You don't think that this is important information that should be brought to everyone's attention? If it weren't for that post by Gary Key, I would have continued to assume (wrongly, apparently), that the P43 chipset overclocked just fine, like the P965 and P35 before it, and the P45 after it. Surely there is someone out there that was planning on a budget overclock, and I saved them from a mistaken purchase of a P43 mobo.

Maybe you did, but in all honesty, most don't consider sub-$100 motherboards if they're trying high overclocks. That said, a 400 FSB isn't anything to sneeze at, it's just not to the levels of the more expensive motherboards. There does have to be compromises made when selling products differentiated by price point and this is one of them, arbitrary or not.

Are you sure it's not the CPU that has the FSB limit? My E4500 has a FSB wall at 358Mhz even tho I'm using an X38-DQ6 to overclock it. The X38-DQ6 is certified to run 400 FSB and should be able to hit 450-550 FSB with very little tweaking.
