P4 wire mod fixed Ga8irxp cold boot problem !

Did the p4 wire mod and now I can cold boot over 1.725 cpuv , with the wire mod the default cpuv is now recognized in the bios as 1.7 volts, with bios version f7 from Gigabyte it allows 15%+ relative to current cpu default voltage 1.7v + .255v = 1.955v { even though it only goes to 1.85cpuv maximum in the bios }. So I'm running now at 152fsb with my 1.8a = 2736 mhz, at cpuv 1.80v , tested and passed 3dmarkse and prime for 3 hours. Cold booted up this morning at 1.8cpuv no problem , before wire mod would not cold boot up past 1.725cpuv .Anybody having cold boot problems with the 8irxp do the wire mod.🙂

yep, wire mods fix cold boot problems.
i told you that 3 months ago - are you not listening? 😉

your system is rocking - nice "new" overclock 😀

Thanks Thugs , 🙂 unfortuanately I missed that thread , and just did the wire mod yesterday , I hope I can run my Original Samsung pc2700 {when it gets here , hopefully Monday} at 3:4 ratio at this fsb that would put it to 404 mhz, I could be at 2736 mhz cpu and 404 mhz ddr which would be a smokin system, this mobo allows you to lock in the 3:4 memory ratio at any fsb. Once I got my new Alpha 8942 and the Y.S.fan with speed dial which will move from 10 - 49 cfm it made all the difference. At cpuv 1.80v my idle is 33 - 35c and more importantly load is 41 - 43c , thanks for the many informative posts without them I never could have gotten this far.

yea ive been hunting for the perfect DDR moboard too. cause im on a 1.6A it doesnt look like im gonna find one til the official 166fsb 4:5 ratio boards come out 🙁

the P4B266 does not have official 333DDR support at all. by that i mean i locks Cas settings @ 2.5/3/3/7 @ 166+fsb 🙁 so for the time being i might just goto the P4B533 just so i can set Cas2/2/2/6. the P4B533 does have a 3:4 ratio too 😉

I just wish they would have a bios update to lock the agp/pci at 66/33 , they have 5 sets of dividers to keep it close to spec ,so that will have to do , does yours lock at 66/33 ?

the p4b266 has 2 lock options...
we think turbo1 is 35/70
and turbo2 is 40/80
most of us are using turbo1.

the P4B533 is completely adjustable in the bios.

im tryin 😉
newegg is the cheapest but they are OOS 🙁

if i do end up with 166fsb 3:4 i might need new ram too.
hopefuly it will run enough to get scores.

yea 442mhz is alot , I don't know of any memory that can run that speed ,that is for sale now . Running at 3:4 ratio memory has become the limiting factor at high fsb.
