P4 3.0c:

Ran 24hr prime 95 at 3.6g @ 1.65v in bios. CPUZ read 1.58v. 3600 mhz

Now running 3.75g, but it took 1.7v in bios. CPUZ reads 1.62. 3750 mhz

1.7v bios OK?? Water cooled temps are 47C loaded on Abit IC7-MAX3. Local temp probe is 26C on the waterblock.

New to Intel, and not sure how much "juice" is too much. I've read 1.7v is OK- just watch temps??

1.7v should be fine. p4 will throttle if they hit a certain temp. i heard 1.8v is detrimental for cpu health.

Hell of an overclock, I think you are OK at 1.7 but i would stick with 3.6 1.65V

You have a nice chip there..

perhaps lazy is an understatement; there's another thread on the very first page where I asked the same question heh..

at any rate, since originally posting the question, i found that according to Intel's own documentation, Section 2.10 - Table 2-5 states: Max Voltage: 1.75 V

the consensus in various forums seems to be 1.65 - 1.7v.

Error'd out at 3.75g in p95 after about 90 minutes. 3.6g @ 1.65v it is!! If she ran there for 24hrs priming, then 24/7 should be fine for everyday apps and occasional gaming.

Thanks all!!

Ya i think that is better for overall stability and the life of the CPU, think about if the extra 100mhz is worth it..

Doubtful..

Hell of an overclock, nice job.

yeah... i'd like to keep mine around 1.65 as well... then again 1.75 is the max stable hmm... wonder if i could squeeze out a few 100 mhz from this chip...

wish i had an ic7-max3 though!!! :) could really use the PAT!!!
