P4 voltage question.....

I have a P4 (478pin) 2.4GHz running at 2.64 with temps around 30-35 idle and 40-45 under load. I just turned up the voltage from 1.5 to 1.55 when I overclocked the CPU to 2.64.

So far all seems stable and cool. Am I pushing it too hard?

Thanks.

Nope, just don't past 1.7V.I recommend a bit less even maybe 1.65V.If you have an Asus mobo it will overvolt about .06 at idle so watch out.

Thanks for the input. It is an ASUS mobo. P4T. When you mean overvolt at 0.06 at idle - do you mean that it will kick up from say 1.55 to 1.61 by itself when idling? Or am I way off?
Thanks!

yes...
i had mine set to 1.60v in bios and it would read 1.68 idle in windows and 1.60v during load

I've seen it vary a few hundredths before but I haven't really checked it to compare during load and idling. Interesting point. Thanks

Is that the only manufacture that does that? Is it a glitch or on purpose? Anyone know if ecs does this?
