P4 system-useless for ECCP

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with my 2.26b with DDR400 in most regards. It's very good with some applications. With ECCP it does VERY poorly though. The Athlon seems to be a very well rounded processor that does well across the board where the P4 excels in some areas and is pathetic in others.
I just started on ECCP and (optimized clients all around) I'm getting some very telling scores:
Athlon XP 1700+ 128MB PC133 1,000,000 aprx
Pentium 4 2.26ghzB 256MB DDR400 350,000 aprx
Duron 600 64MB PC100 420,000
I just got this Duron system up and running and it's not tweaked at all yet with memory 1/4 the speed and nearly 1/4 the clock speed it can still outperform this P4.
Not a good processor for this application, that's for sure.

Wow :Q If the system runs predictable numbers of hours, I bet you can set up a swap with someone, where they do ECCp for you and you do a P4-friendly project for them...

One idea is to find someone with an AMD that would be willing to trade services with you....i.e. You run (say) SETI for someone else...probably just a little faster than their AMD PC would run SETI....and they, in return, run ECCp for you on their AMD. I did this with PeterN....he traded me 2 - P4-1.6's and 1-P4-1.8 for my dual Thunderbird 1.4GHz system. He produces about 15 to 16WU's per day total...much better than the 10 or so I produces...and I produce 300DP's per day average...much.. much better than the combined P4's he had! 😀

Both projects win! 😀

Update: Also what mechBgon said! 😛

Yeah, I'm actually ditching this P4. It's good any everything but my xp 1700+ with PC133 Slaughters my 2.26b with DDR400 in soundforge. This is a really important application for me. The P4 does well in games but that's not so important for me since the Athlon is fast enough at them. SOOOO...he's trading me his XP 1700+ with 512MB of PC2100 and a board with RAID and USB 2.0 KT266a chipset...for my 2.26b. In the applications that I use, the Athlon seems better suited.
So! Shortly I will have TWO athlon XP 1700+ and one Duron 600 working on ECCP.
