I was thinking of scrapping my 865GBF/P4 system and running with a more efficient AMD system, but upon further investigation of the Core Duo chips, I could save some money just upgrading the CPU. I've googled my butt off and searched all over Intel's website and I can't find anything that states whether or not the mPGA and PPGA sockets are compatible. Has anyone here tried it or does anyone know definitively? Thanks.

Socket 478 P4 boards, are not compatible with pentium-m or core duo/core solo chips. They are electricaly incompatible. There are a few specialized motherboards from Aopen and DFI that were made for the pentium-m, and asus has their CT-479 adaptor that allows you to run the pentium-m on some of their socket 478 motherboards. Core duo requires a newer chipset, and the desktop variations of those boards aren't available yet, but are supposed to be coming very soon.

I assumed it was too good to be true, but I'm glad you replied so quickly, I was tempted to order one and try it! Either case, I'm getting a new PC: AGP is too expensive nowadays...
