P4 OC'ing Board

I am lookin for a mobo to put in my new system. I will probably go with a P4 1.8A and overclock it. I'm looking for a fast, reliable mobo that will overclock very high. There are no particular features I'm looking for, though decent onboard sound and lan would be a plus. My budget for the mobo is around 150-200 dollars. My goals for overclocking are 2.6-2.8ghz if this is realistic. I will be using the Antec/Chieftec tower and an Thermalright SLK-478 when it comes out sometime in July paired with a Vantec Tornado fan unless there is a better performer on the market by then. I would like a mobo that supports DDR because my budget doesn't allow for PC1066 RDRAM. I was thinking 512mb of Corsair PC3200 unless somebody knows of something better. Thanks for any recomendations you can give me.

Take a look at the epox 4g4a+ mobo...and, yes I think the cosair pc3200 cas 2.5 or the pc3000 cas 2 xms model;s are the best ocers in every review I have seen...

I like the overclocking features of that board but it has the onboard graphics and it has gotten mixed reviews from what I read. Anybody who has this in their computer? How do you like it so far? Is it stable/does it overclock well? Thanks for the help.

Try elite and diamond members like Insane3d, Pabster, and NFS4

P4S533 will do it, if your cpu's willing. :)

It's not a popular board over on these boards, most people here like the Intel chipsets over the SiS chipsets, but on another board I frequent it's quite popular, and I take pride in saying my OC's are the ones that made it popular. :D :p

Anyway, it'll do up to 160fsb with good dividers (1:1, 4:3, 4:5, 4:6), max fsb is supports is 166.

18x160 = 2.880GHz :)

160/4*6=240
240*16=3.84gbps bandwidth

I'm trying to hit that, but I think that proves it the best DDR board, as far as bandwidth is concerned. :)

One more thing. Is 160fsb realistic on a 1.8A processor? What is the probability I will get a "dud" that will not even get close to 160?

dont rule out the Asus P4B533 just yet - we found it does have a 3:4 ratio via a undocumented jumper setting. (its a great board)

I own both the EPoX EP-4G4A+ and the Asus P4B533. Personally, I like the p4B533 better, but it doesn't have the provision to overclock the DDR over 132fsb. I'm very anxious to try out the new trick, though.

The board that I really want to check out is the P4B533-V. Once someone carries it locally, I'll pick it up.

And don't let onboard anything stop you from getting a particular board. You can simply disable it and it becomes a non-issue. (You could even look at it as the benefit of a backup video solution.)

Does the Gigabyte have the 3:4 memory divider like the BD7-II?
I am actually trying to decide between these two boards :)

Yeah, but you have to use it in jumper mode then. =\

nope...you don't need to be in jumper mode...
it has prove to work in jumperless mode already by many users...
and now you have every option you want and tweak in bios...
too bad it doesn't work for p4b266-c

it really depends if you are lucky or not...133 is good...150 can consider as very lucky...anything above you should go buy some superlotto...

yes it has been 100% verified ---- P4B533 3:4 ratio jumper free mode - no limitations.

my thread made front page @ HOCP :D

Nice, I'll stick with my P4S533 though. :)
