Since I've been talked into going with a P4 for my HTPC, I'm looking for a board which has 6 SATA ports on it. Basically I want to have 2 drives inside the case, with the other 4 for an external SATA enclosure (that holds 4 drives). I probably won't populate them all at first, but I hate to run into a situation where I run out of ports. I guess I could get a PCI card, but I wanted to see what was available. There is an Aopen board that has this (the "AX4SPE Max II") but opinions of Aopen boards seem to be low.

Look at the ABit iC7-max3 i believe its called. It has 6 SATA ports. Its a pretty popular board.

Though may be a little expensive / overboard for a HTPC

Aopen is a good solid board if you're not going to overclock it into stratosphere.

Then again, that can be said for virtually ANY board nowadays. I have ECS-based rigs that run extremely reliably at stock speeds, day in and day out.
