which one is better??

which costs more $$$??

I am looking for a lightweight laptop, not for gaming (since most gaming will be done on my desktop), but I will hook this to my home network (using wireless router)

so can anyone tell me the advantages of each?

Thanks

I heard a drawback of centrino is that the wireless technology is build in,
and it still uses the old 8.011 standard (maybe mistakenly typed)

it uses 802.11b (11 mbps)

rather then the newer 802.11g(54mbps)

although i think next gen cetnrinos are gonna use 802.11g

centrino is the way to go

when will the new one come out??
if I get the 11mbps one, will I be able to add another wireless card (for the 54mbps one)???

Well, "built in" to a mini PCI card or the motherboard anyway. But yes it is 802.11 B (11 mbps) just like 99% of the laptops with integrated wifi, and not the faster 802.11 G that you could get with a PC Card.

Of course most anywhere you go outside of your home LAN is going to be just B as well, so a G card would down-shift to B mode anyway.

By the time I'm ready to buy a new laptop (2005 or 2006) I'm sure that Centrino will have been updated a few times :)
