P4 mainboard-should I "upgrade" ?

Yes, I'm an addict. No matter how fast my rig runs, I want more.
In that light, I'm running a P4 2.53 / TH7-II (i850)/ 512 RDRam at either 140 FSB (x4 PC1120, 36xx Sandra Mem bndwth) or at 150 FSB (x3 PC900 30xx Sandra mem bndwth) CPU needs 1.65 to hit 150 FSB, so I haven't bothered to try higher.
Plenty fast rig but I keep reading about the 845PE and Granite Bay and wonder if I should spring for either with some PC3500?
I know the DDR will be more "future-proof" and obviously wouldn't go RDram again, but will I see a noticeable improvement over what I have already?
It seems that the only advantage of "upgrading" would be to get the benefits on the newer boards like USB 2, SATA and Firewire?
Anyone want to weigh in on this?
AFA the cost, that isn't the prime consideration but I don't want to spend the $$ to see little or no obvious performance difference.
TIA for any comments,
Mike G

Not worth it to upgrade your system now.

Getting an i845PE is probably a step backwards in performance. The GB's performance is on-par with your RDRAM system.

Wait for Springdale/Canterwood. The ICH5 with native S-ATA support (and possible FireWire support) is going to make it a lot more flexible than the ICH4 that is currently offered with the i845PE and E7205 (GB) chipsets.

I would not upgrade. You wouldn't see much of a performance difference with a I845PE motherboard even if you went up to a 2.8. IMHO.

Springdale for sure will be the one to get, you already have a fast system. personally, i have to stay away from these forums cuz i easily get swept up in the excitement of new products tha peeps are willing to beta test here in these forums.

Thanks for all the replies, I think I will wait.
And the comment about these (other hardware forums), is "right on", I read 2 or 3 every day and the urge just gets stronger.
I'm back to reality now, hope it lasts!
