Would this processor work in a Dell Inspiron 1150? According to CPU-Z, it currently has a 2.6 GHz Celeron, code name Northwood, package mPGA-478. If this Pentium M is compatible, it seems like it would be a nice upgrade for this laptop in terms of running cooler and probably getting better battery life too.

Any input on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Now you guys and gals have my attention. I have an old Dell 4100 with P3 650 or 700 MHZ. Will this chip work on it? The motherboard takes Sodimm SDRAM, not that DDR stuff. Yeah, it is a bit old. Let me know, please. Thanks.

Looks like old Banjas stock. If you have very old Celeron-M laptop (not the Dothan based Celeron), it might be worth the upgrade. Performance wise, it's not much, but if you want to use the SpeedStep to get some more juice, this might be worth it.

Jakster - unfortunately, you laptop can't get the upgrade. The chipset on the laptop probably doesn't support the Pentium-M even if it's pin-compatible.

razor, thanks much for taking the time to give me the bad news! Seriously, I do appreciate it even if it wasn't what I wanted to hear. Sure glad I asked because the $25 for the part would not be a big deal, but I could have wasted a whole lot of time trying to get this processor to work in my 1150. Thanks again.
