P4 CPU installation, HELP!!!

I just got my P4 CPU literally minutes ago and I went to install it in my MSI 655 Max motherboard. When I looked at the bottom first of all I noticed some brown and white pieces of dust in between the pins. I was like "uh oh", but I quickly disposed of that problem with a well-grounded toothpick 😀 Now I go to put it in, and it seems like not all the pins are connecting. I take it out and it looks like a couple of the pins on one of the corners are slanted!!!

I dont know if I made the pins slant when I tried to install or if they were already, but what should I do? should I try bending them back ever-so-carefully with my loyal toothpick? I REALLY dont want to do something stupid and snap a pin and lose $104 in a blink. What should I try to do??? (by the way, yes I raised the bar that locks in the CPU, and yes I tried to insert the CPU straight down into the socket)

No I didnt. I managed to use my toothpick to bend the pins a little and it went in like a glove. Whew, I'm glad that's over. Now I just hope the thing works...
