P4 Aux Connector Problem

This is my first P4 building experience, and it is for a friend. I have the Enlight 7237A4Z Mid-Tower ATX Case, P4 1.3GHz, and ASUS P4T i850 motherboard.

For the Aux. Power, is there supposed to be 1 pin that is not connected? When I hook it up, the right most pin is not able to connect into the plug because there is a small peice of plastic preventing it from lining up correctly.

1) Those are Crimms. Kind of like teminators. Rimms must be installed in pairs. put the crimms in the slots that are unoccupied by your 2 rimms of equal size

2) Your mobo will have a 4pin 12volt power connector that you ATX 2.03 PS should have. It will also have a 6pin Aux power connector that your ATX 2.03 PS should have.

I've got the same P4 setup.

1) These are continuity modules. Look at your P4T instruction manual - it gives the optimal setup. Definitely alternate between CRIMMS and the actual RDRAM sticks.

2) I had the same problem - the AUXPWR connector on the Enlight PS is KEYED INCORRECTLY (or maybe the Asus is keyed incorrectly... :) ). I came to this conclusion after about an hour of frustration. If you feel comfortable doing this, remove the key with a pair of pliers, but make sure that you know the orientation of the wires with respect to the pins. The P4T manual should help you quite nicely.

I've had little problem with this setup.

My friend has a limited budget so he is only getting two Samsung 64MB RDRAM modules. Should I put the first in RDRAM slot 1A then a crimm in slot 1B, then the other RDRAM in slot 2A, and the other crimm in slot 2B.

Hehehe whoa :)

For the Aux. Power, I do not really understand what you are saying. Do you mean take off the plastic part of the plug or something? Sorry, but I am not familiar with KEYED. :)

Thank you for your help though, I appreciate it.

As to the ram config, yes, your way of thinking is correct/ as to the orientation as to the wiring, like suggested above, consult your manual. :)

OK, I looked in the manual, saw what the keying was, and yes, it is keyed "backwards" I would say. If it was flipped it would work.

So now that I see it is "messed up" how do I correct the problem?

* Rimm 1 & 2 HAVE to be identical.
* Rimm 3 & 4 HAVE to be identical / terminators.

BTW - Rimms themselves don't have to be installed in pairs - it's the fact that the i850 has dual-channel RIMM-banks that you have to populate them in pairs of two.

Make sure that those CRIMMs/terminators are well-seated. If you get a "no-beep/no-video/no-boot" scenario, it's 99% of cases the problem that the CRIMMs have somehow loosened themselves.

Hope this helps you & clarifies some things.

Any other questions that need answering? :D.

Urm - do you have a Digital Camera per chance? 'Cos I am confused about the power-plug issue you are talking about ...

No I do not, and no power supply exchange is not an option, I have a deadline to deliver this to my friend by.

It is the power supply that comes with the Enermax P4 cases, 340 watts.
There is a little plastic peice on the aux plug, which makes only 5 of the 6 aux. pins connect.
