Hey. I have always done AMD builds since recently.

Question is, will a P4 that runs on 800FSB work with pc2700 memory? Or, is the 800FSB supposed to be with the pc3200? Or can they run outa sync?? Thanks in advance.

generally the 865/875 boards have a memory divider of 5:4; when the fsb is set to 200, the memory will run at 160 (DDR320)

YOu will be memory bandwidth limited in a system that thrives on bandwidth....If you are running ual channel pc2700 you are generating 5.4gb/s of bandwidth for a pcu that at 800fsb can handle a threoretical limit of 6.4gb/s...in real world it wont be the worst thing....

Who knows maybe you can give them some vdimm and run 400ddr anyways.....depends...if it is cas 2 stuff it may be able to pull of 400ddr at cas 2.5 with about +.1-.2v of vdimm...

It depends on the motherboard, but it should be able to run with a divider, however as Duvie pointed out, Pentium 4's are bandwidth hungry, you'll be starving your CPU if you don't use PC3200.
