I am running a 3ghz P4 that is clocked at 3.45ghz(look at my game rig link). I will be getting a 3200+ 64 soon for a good price. I have two nice case but one is my main case for my current fastest system. Do any of you know which would pump out better game frame rates or higher Aquamark/3dmark scores with the same side by side specs like my 9700pro/1gig PC4000. Any ideas? I am sure I can overclock the AMD a bit so with both chips running stable overclocks with good aircooling which one would perform the best in your opinion? Or is it to hard to tell?

The Athy 64 seems to do better than their Intel counterparts, and that's just in 32-bit. Tim Sweeney of Epic wrote that he was seeing almost 20% more performance with the 64-bit registers, but it may or may not be true. It can't hurt though :) Check out the reviews across all of the main sites for comparisons. If you work with a lot of windows open while doing something intesive like encoding media, it might be worth it to go P4 with the HyperThreading.

I love my Hyper Threading, its a fast fast chip. It runs my games wonderfully. The thing is I will be getting the 64 3200+ in the next 2months for a very good price and I am just curious which one will actually be my main system that I use to game. From the looks of it the 3200+ will be my new system and the P4 will go to the 2nd desk what the friends / lady use for games and school work. I just use it when my main is down, its a close call it seems like but overall FPS with AA/AF up in games is my main concern.

For gaming only, the Athlon64. For gaming, while doing something else that's cpu-intensive (distributed computing or encoding video), nothing beats a P4C.

i've had both...

for pure gaming, the 3200+ is better... even if it's only overclocked 2.4 ghz... it'll still be faster than that 3.0 C at 3.4 ghz...

Depending upon the types of games you play, as well as how you play the games, there is a chance that the A64 holds no advantage over the P4C.

the 3200+ will be even better with games like halflife2 coming soon wich include the 64bit code and with win xp 64 the 3200+ will run rings around intel's chips.

While true because some will be limited because of the res or game being more GPU limited when the CPU does have a more decided effect on gaming performance a A64 3200+ is easily faster than a 3gh P4c, just have a look at the numerous reviews around the web to confirm it.
