P4 3.0e or P4 2.6c

I'm looking to building a rig for some video editing, video encoding and decoding. Need to convert some anolog and digital camcorder tapes to dvd or divx.

Have a 3.0e prescott and a 2.6c northwood available. Don't plan to do and oc'ing at present as they are on very stable intel mobo's, but might if there is a compelling reason to do so.

Is there a significant difference between the two for what I want to do?

Also, since I won't be doing any gaming on this rig, will built in video on the mobo do (I think it is the Intel Extreme Graphics, but I will have to check).

prescotts are better for video editing and such than same clock northwoods by a little. northwoods better for games. prescotts are hotter though

A 3.0Ghz Prescott will still offer better performance than a 2.6 Northwood.

The Prescott's do run hotter though, but if you're not planning on verclocking then there shouldn't be any problem.

Id still get a crappy graphics card like a radeon 9600 cause intel extreme graphics are really horrible.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll go with 3.0e Prescott.

Bleh, I'll take a look at getting a video card as well. Will a Nvidia MX400 do (I've got one lying around here somewhere).
