I've been wondering what the big "coverup" was at Hardforums that got so many banned. Now I know. ;)

Then , the craziest thing ever happened. Steve and Kyle personally came into the forums, deleting, locking threads and banning anyone who mentioned it or had critisism to the numbers. They publicly claimed the pic was never changed, anyone who said so was a liar. A lot of ppl have been banned already, but apparently they are covering up the cover-up by not putting "banned" under the names. I'm banned by IP along with plenty of others. I had 3000 posts there all of them helpful or honest. We got banned for telling the truth.
OMG, WTF!!!???

3000+ post members getting banned for exposing this! That is F***KED UP!!! I remember when people (some still do) were accusing Anand of being in Intel?s/AMD?s pocket etc... expressing their feelings on this forum. Many of the discussions become very heated (flames whatever) and with a lot of personal attacks. Though I don't remember anyone getting banned for it! Glad I don't go to HOCP anymore! :disgust:

You can read up about it here!

What I don't understand is why didn't HOCP just state this from the start?

From what I've been reading is that Kyle (or staff) denied ever changing the image in the first place. I'm not sure if this is true or not... if they did deny changing the image, then all I can say is WOW!!!

However, what shocks me is the banning of forum members (again some of them higher ups at HOCP), and so many of them too. I hope Anand never stoops so low (I'm more then confident Anand or staff would never).

Just think
Granite bay.
1.8 P4 with HT (c stepping)

running @ 3.2 air cooled
and dual channel DDR = hot damn

If you read to the end of the review it says that all "B" versions of Northwood chips have hyperthreading and you just have to enable it in the BIOS... ( and get a BIOS update ). Well, maybe I read that somewhere else, but that's your answer...

Bfonnes

While its true that they have HT in them, they disabled on-chip, and enabling HT is not possible.

Anyone from Japan have any links to the mad hackers out there that run HT in Linux?

If one could harness the egos of the Hardlyworthacrap Forum mods, one could shoot the state of Texas into orbit around Pluto.

While this site has become my livelihood, it is never viewed as "for profit" business. Our first and foremost objective is to supply solid information to our readers.

Riiiight.

The almighty dollar rules.

So much for putting the interests of the members and readers first. :p

Being banned is an honor.

Good! I guess what comes around goes around.. I made a mistake once in his forums and he banned me... (without even the slightest warning) now he has made a mistake and the community is pounding him for it... ahhhhh... sweet retribution...

I haven't been to his site since my run in with him..... I consider them to be ratfinks...

Looks like Kyle Bennett got caught with his hand in the advertisement cookie jar.
The benches promoted by Intel are bad enough.

On thing that really distinguishes this site from others is it's INTEGRITY. Just recently, Anand demonstrated it again by pulling the TigerDirect ads (that cost him money to cancel them) when the membership complained. Some of the complaints even bordered on allegations that were unpleasant. As long as Anand is in charge, we never have to worry about this. ;)

You guys were the sole reason we pulled the TigerDirect ads from the forums. So don't be afraid to speak out, by all means go ahead and voice your opinions. If you have similar gripes with something else on the forums, just start a thread and tell us about it. :)

Ever since kyle's attack against Matrox for not sending him a sample Perhelia card to review, I've refused to visit HardOCP. This if anything proves him for what he is...

So HardOCP is banning people without hesitation for no real reason.

Yep you can tell they have teamed up with Shacknews - I hope they both go roaring down in flames!
wheeeeeeee.

That's why I'll be re subscribing in approximately 15days! ;) It has nothing to do with the fact as a subscriber I feel like I?m on an OC3, really it doesn?t! ;)

I?ve questioned Anands benchmarks a few times in the past, and as you can see I?m still around! OCP seems to be banning anyone who even mentions this incident. Sad but oh well, moving on...

Btw: Thanks Evan for speaking.

Hyper-threading is certainly exciting technology and it seems to boost performance pretty much across the board, especially when multitasking.

I want to know how it works in database sorting and querying in non-optimized systems. Stock P4's seem to really suck at these tasks.
On what evidence do you base this comment on? I use a Celeron P4 at work and I use Access every day and it works just fine. I also upgrade my machine every few months and the P4 is faster than the 1.3 GHz Celeron system I had last time.

I base it on the performance of pulling 300-500MB off Teradata servers and then manipulating the data with a series of macros and a pair of VB scripts for an hour. A Pentium133 could match it in performance for this task. It is not the Network causing the slowdown after the first 20-30 minutes, although it does have some effect. The P4 1.6A's replaced PII-350s and P-133s that do the task at almost the same exact speed, well at least in comparison to the PII.

Then either there's a problem with your servers or there are bottlenecks elsewhere that you're unaware of. Nobody in their right mind could possibly believe that a P133 MHz system matches a 1.6 GHz P4 in performance for anything. That is just ludicrous.

I hook into data tables stored on our server that have as much as ~1.3 million records in them with Microsoft Access and I can tell you that my 1.7 GHz P4 Celeron is not slow at all. I also know for a fact that I'm bottlenecked by both the server and the network to some degree and that it'd be faster to access the data locally. Yet even with this bottleneck the machine is faster than my previous 1.3 GHz Celeron was.

It appears that AMD knew about the 3.06GHz HT launch. The day the 3.06 HT was launched, most of the AMD CPUs started hitting the shelves. The 2700+ is all over the place now (14 hits on pricewatch, the few I checked were in stock). The 2800+ is in stock at a few places now (I still consider it paper, because it isn't widely available).

Newegg

So it appears that the 3.06GHz launch helped the AMD users too.

What concerns me about the P4's is the "strange little problems" with them like the sound stuttering on a 2500+mhz cpu - I hear about a few oddities like this.
