I feel silly having orderd my Asus 875 canterwood board from newegg after reading good reviews about the chipset and board and then finding out that the CPUs aren't shipping? Ouch!

Please, can anyone shed light on when I can expect this CPU to be available to order? I will have a Mobo sitting around now.

Also, any thoughts on the most appropriate RAM for this board? (Asus P4C800).

Thank you,

J

I heard that they've been released from shipping hold, so could be pretty soon (as in, this week). For RAM, how about some Samsung Original 512Mb PC3200 modules? Price is good right now and they're pretty well-regarded modules.

Thanks for the link. I got one last Monday before my dealer was notified by Intel to hold them. My friend is looking for one but has not found a source yet.

The 3.0C runs great on the AOPEN AX4C-Max

Looking for a source is my next step, but it looks as if they are not being held up at least.

Thanks Superman...

Now if you could just tell me where I can order a P4 3.0C for my Mobo... I'd be set!

Beware the Corsair TWINX for canterwood. Many people are having problems with it. No RAM manufacturer has been able to get their ram to work at CAS 2 on canterwood (at least none that I have seen). And since the Corsair TWINX are default set to CAS 2, it won't post.

mroleg... thanks for the new links... I will check.

Fallen... I'll be on the lookout. I am getting the feeling that maybe I am getting into the Canterwood thing too early. The deal is, I am going to be free in my schedule to deal with building a new system in a few weeks and then not have the time for months to come. So, I figured I would get as much as I could now and get what is best.

But it seems that, while I have the board, the CPU is hard to come by and finding the right RAM may be challenging. I remember this happened to me too when I got my P4-2.0Ghz (the 423 pin) model JUST BEFORE the current 478 models came out; but now, like then, I only had a small window of opportunity.

Oh well... I will keep looking. Thanks for the help guys.
