But you are comparing the fastest, loudest fan on the Sp-94 to the quiet mode of the Zalman.
If you compare the two at similar fan speeds, they perform about the same:

So, the main difference between the two seems to be that one lets you choose your own fan and the other includes a fan and controller. One is more customizable and the other is less expensive.
I personally prefer the Al-Cu version of the Zalman, but that's because I don't OC and I don't like the mass of all that copper.
