I have a P4 2.8A with an asus P4T533-E and am getting idle temp of 42degC and full load at 56+. This is with a Zalman 7000 at full blast! Are these typical temps? I just checked the Intel website and they recommend 38degrees C MAX for the fan inlet temp (I assume this means processor temp?)...I don't even know if that is possible.

I have also been getting general protection faults and errors in games as well as occasional random reboots - could this be temperature related?

the reboots could be temp related, it all depends what the setting in the bios is set to. In bios you can set a security setting for a cpu temp so if it gets to that them it will shot down the system in order for the cpu not ot burn up.

I on the other hand am having the same problem with my rig, the temps seem to be really high, using the same CPU fan as you do, I have ASUS p4p800 deluxe mobo.
I am going to try another cpu fan.
I have a LianLi case PC-65, with two outtake fans & two intake fans.
I have been playing with my rig for about a week now, trying to get it to nice temp.
I will keep it posted here once I find anything.

first off is your graphic card an ati? if not then lets move onto the power supply unit. Get a better quality powersupply unit like fortron for 60 buck you can get a 530w that will be over kill but more is always good, and if you have an ati change to a different driver cause the new driver seems to be giving people problem.

I guess my board is retarded or something cause i use sissoftware to chceck my temp and it says 127 c or 260 f , with that kinda temp i shouldn't even be able to type this right now.
