Hey all,

I have a p4 2.66 Ghz (533) processor and I am trying to OC it. I have been successful at getting it up to 3.1Ghz but it frequently locks up. I have a couple of questions.

1. What temperature should the CPU be running at this speed? (48c in bios after reboot)
2. Is there a tool I can use while in windoze to monitor real time? I have seen a few out there but all have horrible reviews. Which would you recommend?
3. What is a good, reliable and cheap hsf to run on this cpu (s478)

I am currently using stock cooling, I currently have it set to 4x146MHz (584MHz data Rate)

if you got the money, the SLK900 should perform really well, and it can take a 92 mm fan to keep it relatively quiet. i've also heard good things about the new zalmans, but i'm not sure how good they are for overclocking as they're more geared towards the quiet crowd.

I'm not worried about quiet, it can sound like a jet engine so long as I can overclock and its relatively cheap ($40)

I am running that same CPU at 3.2GHz with an Alpha 8942, 80mm to 120mm Fan Adaptor and a 120mm Aluminum Fan with a bit of AS3. You can get the Zalman which works pretty well and doesn't make too much noise.
