P4 2.4C Stability w/ Hyperthreading

Hope this is not off topic and I already searched.

I recently sold a P4 2.4C and the person is saying that Windows (I'm assuming XP) crashes after 5 seconds whenever he has h-t enabled. He was running a 3.4EE which ran fine in his msi 865 neo2 pls motherboard.

Any thoughts/ideas?

Make sure it's XP. Windows 2000 has problems with HT, and 9x doesn't support multiple CPUs (physical or virtual) at all.

Yes, i too face similar problem with my p4 2.8c . I am running windows Xp (sp1) build 2600
It gets restarted every now then with HT enabled. But when i disable HT in the bios it runs smoothly with out any trouble.

Could any one please help

Thanks

Make sure WinXP has properly recognized that you have an HT enabled CPU. It should show 2 processors in Device Manager and you should be able to pull up 2 cpu use graphs in task manager.
