P4 2.2 + Peltier = 3451MHz !

Yeah those japanese guys have been doing someinsane overclocks even back on athlon tbirds and p4 willamettes...

It loks as if they are also using some type of clock generator or something...I have seen where they have had to fiddle with the pll clocks to push some of the insane boost they have gotten...

Also too bad most of these are only stable enough to run this id program...

<< That was no peltier...and it said 3541MHz! It looked like a cryo cooler to me. >>

I learned after I posted that it was liquid hydrogen. 🙂

VR-Zone was able to overclock the "Northwood" P4 2.0Ghz to 2.8Ghz and the 2.2 to 3.1GHz using the AVC Sunflower cooler (air cooling). See their pics and assessment of the P4's overclocking capabilities at the link below:

http://www.vr-zone.com/reviews/Intel/P4-Northwood/page4.htm

The max stable speed VR-Zone could attain for use was 3.04GHz with air cooling.

Looks like they hit 2.95GHz with air cooling in the bottom picture, although i can't read japanese. I'm wondering why it says Socket 423 though, they dont make 2.2's in 423 do they?

I'll let you know by monday 😀

Nice but when do we get a stepping where retail air cooling will give 3.5 GHz? 🙂

Older versions of WCPUID will report s478 P4's as s423's.
