I recently downloaded Intel's Active Monitor software and I looked at my temperatures. Some times I get to about 102 degress (fahrenheit), and somtimes down to 80 degress (fahrenheit). Right now its at 100 degress and I haven't been doing anything intensive, just surfing the web, listening to music in winamp, etc. The fan is running at 2,614 RPM right now but it fluctuates some. Is this a feature to spin faster at a higher temp and slower at a lower temp? Right now its about 37 degress CELCIUS for those of you who want to compare it a little.

What exactly are you asking? Are you asking if that is a normal temp? Well if thats the question then yes that is a good temp.

Also depends which mobo you have, when it comes to fan speed fluctuations. Some have the automatic adjustability to reduce noise etc.

I have an Intel 845WN w/integrated LAN

I'm looking for what a normal temperature is and possibly what a temperature where I should be concerned.

That is roasty toasty :Q

Do you have sufficient contact with the heatsink and processor? Im having this problem with my XP atm and i havnt got round to getting any thermal paste for it yet :(

I'm on a stock cpu too. What kinda parts you got in there? I also have one case fan which I just put "incase" because I added a 2nd hard drive.

Also remember, I'm on SDRAM PC-133 so mine probably only uses 133 mhz of the 400 mhz fsb, correct?

My video card is also outdated Ati Radeon VE so I really have heat only from the CPU, a 20 gig 7200 rpm hard drive, a 60 gig 5400 rpm hard drive, and my PSU @ 300 watts.

Actually, before I added taht 60 gig, I ran without a case fan. I think that has some effect so the system zone under intel active monitor is around 86 and cpu zone is 99 right now . I'm only using about 1 to 5% of my cpu right now so I guess at 100% it could increase to get close to your 130.

Anyways, the Williamettes have always run pretty warm. The 2.0GHZ Wiliamette had a higher thermal disipitation than the AthlonXP 2800+
