P4 1.7 OC Question

Syntax

Senior member
I am pretty new to OC'ing.... I have a P4 1.7 running at 1.9 via the multiplier on a Soyo Dragon Board. Should I mess with the core voltage? If so what would be a good setting. Also, could you give me some suggestions on what you think I should OC this 1.7 chip to? It is very stable at 1.9 and the temps are 49c w/ retail Intel fan. Any ideas / thoughts would be appeciated!!!

Syntax,

The 1.7 is a Williamette; it is not the new, improved "Northwood" P4 with twice the cache that overclocks so well. That said, you might do 2.0 or 2.1GHz if you are lucky. But you are not going to do the 2.2 to 2.6GHz that people are getting with the newer 1600MHz Northwood P4's.
