I have a Asus P3V4X mobo with a v7700 vid card.
9 out of 10 times that I boot, I get beep codes
that indicate the vid card was not found and no
video. I then push down on the vid card and reboot and I post. Now normally one would say,
the vid card is not seated correctly in the AGP
slot, but if I seat this thing any harder it will
come out the other side of the mobo! :) I know there are known issues concerning the VIA chipset
with this card, but does anyone have any suggestions or know of any issues quite like this one? Thanks for all your help!

Yes there is a similar problem with Abit KA7 & GF2 READ BELOW,ABIT has acknowledged that their KA7 motherboard is having problems with certain GeForce 2 GTS boards. Here's ABIT's official response (at least in Europe) to the issue:

ABIT have recently discovered an incompatibility between our KA7 (and KA7-100) and some brands of GeForce 2 GTS chipset based graphics cards. The symptom of this is that on a cold Boot the video card will fail to initialise causing the system to beep, reporting a video error. Upon resetting (you may have to reset a few times) you will get a picture. The machine will then boot and function normally while left on.

The system will need a slight modification in order to cure this inconvenience. It may be possible that the modification could be provided by either party in order to make their own product work in a wider range of systems, but please be aware that this is an incompatibility rather than a fault with either device and so the suggested course of action from another manufacturer may simply be to replace either the board or VGA card with a rival, which would also eliminate the problem.

If you are suffering from this problem then we can modify the mainboard for you directly, however, although we will supply the labour and component free of charge we will expect you to cover the cost of getting the mainboard to and from us.

North American KA7 users experiencing these problems will no doubt want to contact ABIT about the problem: http://www.abit-usa.com/english/contact/index.htm

You gotta bum video card! I put P3V4X's together with V6800 and V7700 all day at the computer store I work at part time. The V6800 says on the back of the box under system requirements "for Intel chipset Mobos and K7 only" this was to pacify Intel for Asus using the Via chipset. The V7700 requirements say Intel chipset recommended!! I have a V6800 in my machine P3800 EB Flip Asus Slocket P3V4X and it rocks! I have tried the V7700 but the driver that comes with it caused some quirky stuff like crashing Windows when the auto monitor shutdown is activated in screen saver settings. Just needs to use a bug free driver is all. I switched back to my 6800 because the performance gain wasn't worth the extra money.
Get another Video card if you can, I'm almost certain there is a bad circuit in the vid card or if not,in the AGP slot.
