P3V4X , VIA chipsets and Aureal. Now list sound card, slot, irq settings!

Well, it seems to be a consensus that the Aureal based sound cards will not work on our beloved p3v4x.

we've both tried the slot 3, irq 10 to no avail. in addition, I turned off the serial ports as well, but alas, nothing will do.

So can you guys who are running their systems with the benefit of the AUREAL experience please share your secrets?

What card? What pci slot? What irq setting?

I'm tired of the deafening silence.

What ever operating system you are running. I have tried all different drivers from reference to other manufacturers drivers.

I'm runnin an mx300 (vortex2) on my p3v4x.

It's installed on PCI slot 2 (second down from the AGP slot)

After booting into windows and windows recognizes and installs the card, do NOT reboot. First go into device manager and disable the Soundblaster Pro emulation. Then reboot. this works for me

what do you mean "whatever operating system"???????? Aureal cards word fine in win9x with the latest drivers, i have build kt133, kx133, and amd 750 systems with them and not ONCE had a problem, but I only use the latest drivers. Windows 2000 is another story, I have yet to get a system stable with a vortex. My own system has a vortex2 and kx133 mb, soundcard works fine until i play games and it stops working.

Yup, no problems at all on my cuv4x/WinME/MX300 card in the third slot.
